====== How to Gather ======
=== Value Proposition ===
There are multiple ways to initiate gathering in the game. For smaller players, you can select your sheep in the game, walk up to a resource, click the resource, and initiate gathering. However for larger players, the in-game tools are immensely valuable. From the My NFTs view, you can select "List" to see more sheep at once, then use the Quick Gather and Mass Claim actions to manage as many sheep as you want at once.

====== Resources ======

Gathering Resources is all about longevity and claiming on a sunny day. If you can gather in longer sprints, your earnings increase dramatically, this is due to the gathering rate multiplier. Weather also effects your ability to maximize profits. Claiming on Sunny day will multiplier your resources another 1.2x on top of the daily gathering multiplier. As the average gathering length on the farm drops, the weather multiplier becomes a bigger factor. This is because your sheep will burn through a lot more energy gathering, and margins can become very thin.

In the Verdant Valley, weather is *actually* predictable. You can reference the 60-day forecast for each community to plan your gathering strategy and get the most out of your spent energy.

====== Claiming & Taxes ======
==== Why Breed? ====
If you claim a sheep, a few things will happen. Any shiny boxes you found will become available to open or sell, and any resources gathered (minus taxes paid to land owners) will show up in your balances on the top banner. You can use the Game Explorer to view community tax rates across the entire Valley.

As stated above, sheep are also powerful because of their '''<u>ability to gather</u>'''. During 2023, I focused on breeding as much as possible to grow my flock. Today (April 2024) my flock of 62 sheep earns me about 300,000 wool each month, plus additional Leaderboard wool and resources.
By now you know the power of breeding. Let's cover a few the basics below.

The sheep is a workhorse, an essential part of the Wolf Game ecosystem. Many community members compare sheep to crypto miners. At the core of it, Sheep are valuable because of their energy. However, how you spend your energy in the game will define your success. There are certainly smart ways to put your Sheep to work, and the ever changing Wolf Game economy creates an environment where you need to be ready to pivot strategies if you want to play optimally at all times.

Why Gather?

Gathering generates a lot more value than simply the resources you can harvest. While gathering, sheep discover shiny boxes which can be opened and/or sold at the Shopkeeper's marketplace. You can use those resources to build higher level structures, or trade those resources for wool, chops, and pelts in the games AMM. Finally, gathering is one of the primary ways to climb seasonal leaderboards in order to win more pouched wool.

Why Breed?

Breeding isn't for the faint of heart. The stakes are high and the rewards are numerous. Breeding is playing the long game. As your flock grows from breeding Gen 0 and/or 1 sheep, your power in the game increases, depending on how you use the Gen 2 sheep.

Each Gen 2 sheep is worth chops, 1 chop for each 1 unit of max-energy. Sheep can be burned for chops, which are required for Wolf Breeding.

As stated above, sheep are also powerful because of their ability to gather. During 2023, I focused on breeding as much as possible to grow my flock. The real ROI hit in Feb 2024 when leaderboards and shinies were announced. Today (April 2024) my flock of 62 sheep earns me about 300,000 wool each month, plus additional Leaderboard wool and resources.
